Safeguarding Policy

How we support safe, parent-managed learning for UK Year 6 SATs and 11+ preparation.

Last updated: 2 September 2026

Our commitment

yearsixlearning is committed to helping children use UK Year 6 SATs and 11+ preparation tools in a safe, respectful, and age-appropriate way. Safeguarding is central to how we design parent-managed accounts, child learning profiles, and the information we collect.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to everyone using yearsixlearning, including parents, guardians, children, and anyone who manages or supports the service. A parent or guardian must create and manage each family account and should supervise a child's use of yearsixlearning appropriately.

A safer learning environment

yearsixlearning is designed as an individual learning service. Child profiles use screen names and individual secret words, rather than public profiles. The service does not provide public chat, direct messaging, or child-to-child contact features. We aim to collect only the information needed to provide practice, study planning, and progress features.

Parent and guardian controls

Parent-level access is protected by the parent account and secret word. Parents and guardians can manage child profiles, learning preferences, and account information through Profile and Settings. Child secret words allow each child to access their own learning activity, but do not grant access to parent-level settings or another child's information.

Keeping accounts safe

Parents and guardians should keep account passwords and secret words private, use an email address they control, and avoid sharing login details outside the family. If you believe someone has accessed an account without permission, change the relevant credentials and contact yearsixlearning through the published support channel as soon as possible.

Concerns about content or safety

If a parent, guardian, or child sees content or behaviour that feels unsafe, inappropriate, or concerning, they should stop using the affected feature and report the concern through yearsixlearning's published support channel. Where a child may be at immediate risk of harm, contact emergency services or the relevant local safeguarding authority without delay.

Privacy and safeguarding

We handle account and learning information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and GDPR information. Information may be used or shared where necessary to protect a child, comply with a legal obligation, investigate misuse, or respond to a valid request from an authorised authority.

Reviewing this policy

We review this policy as yearsixlearning develops and when safeguarding expectations or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page.
